A Mighty Beginning
Amanda was introduced and immersed into the NICU with the birth of her second son, Kaleb, born at 28 weeks weighing 2lb 2oz.
“Entering the NICU is like entering into a brand new world with its own language, equipment, procedures, and way of life,” Amanda said. “Couple that with the fact that with the premature birth, gone was the “typical” birth experience with congratulations, balloons, and flowers from family and friends.”
Family and friends didn’t know what to say or do for her family. This observation and her experience as a NICU mom inspired her to begin Mighty Miracles and to find ways to do something to celebrate each life, no matter how short or small.
The organization does this by providing booklets and care packages to NICU families with the goal of educating families about NICU life and offering encouragement and hope.

The heart is placed with the baby in the isolette or crib so the mother is always with her child. The baby can be comforted by their mother’s smell and mother’s love, Hearts are accompanied by a poem.
- I Love a Mighty Miracle bracelet
Two rubber bracelets are included in each care package.
- Preemie Octopus
Some people say the tight curls of a crocheted tentacle make a good umbilical cord substitute for the tiny hands of a premature baby.

Good luck!
We would have loved to have a Preemie Octopus during our NICU stay. Our son a 31 weeker/3 lb miracle was constantly grabbing on to his feeding tube and pulling it out. I didn’t know we could have given him something comforting as an alternative. Now at 2 1/2 he still loves to fall alsleep clutching something. Now are dear friends are in the NICU with their 22.5 weeker ( 7 weeks old today!). I would love to give them a Mighty Miracle gift collection. They have experienced 2 late term miscarriages and one loss after a week in the NICU. We are so thankful for the NICU and all blessings the people helping to create awareness and support for the families.
I would have loved to have the guidebook! Being a first time mama to twin micropreemies was such a whirlwind and having something to reference would have been helpful.
These are such a fabulous gift to any NICU parent! ❤️
